Application closing date: 2 February
We are seeking to appoint two new members to the Effect of Climate Change on Long-Term Interest Rates Working Party. Lay members (non-IFoA members) are welcome to apply.
This working party is studying how and why climate change might affect long term interest rates, an exciting topical subject which should be of wide interest to actuaries. Over the next six months the working party’s focus will turn to producing outputs. We are seeking proactive, motivated individuals to drive forward this phase of work. This may include opportunities to present our output at webinars/conferences.
Volunteers will have a passion for the impact of climate change on the wider macro-economic environment. Some prior experience working with climate change financial risk, or economics concepts, would be helpful.
For more information about current sustainability research projects, see: sustainability: research working parties. The working parties report to the IFoA’s Sustainability Research and Thought Leadership Sub-committee and Sustainability Board.
Around two hours per week (flexible timing), including self-directed research, drafting materials and attending working party meetings. Please consider if you can commit sufficient time when applying. We aim to complete the group’s work within the next 12 months.
Meetings will be held by conference call / video conference to allow us to widen this opportunity to all. Location is not a barrier (the current members are based in the UK and India).
If you are interested in this role but would like an informal conversation before applying, please email us at engagement.team@actuaries.org.uk.

Volunteering provides you with a wide range of opportunities.
