Our policy and campaigns work articulates the IFoA’s stance on a range of topics and seeks to impact public policy. This is all part of our thought leadership. But we also recognise the importance of ‘pure’ thought leadership activity, which focuses on working with our stakeholders to develop new perspectives on key issues.
The ‘think’ series celebrates the value of challenge and debate in thought leadership. It is an opportunity to articulate views that may be controversial, and to address a wide range of subjects, not only traditional actuarial concerns.

This open essay competition generated high-quality submissions on the nature of a sustainable financial system and pension system in the public interest. It was run in 2022 and named in honour of distinguished 20th century actuary Frank Redington. Learn more about the Frank Redington Prizes.
