Amendment to the IFoA’s Regulations

7 February 2023

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ Council has agreed a proposal to amend Regulation 21 of the IFoA’s constitution, which concerns the privacy and processing of IFoA member’s personal information.

The proposed amendments will allow us to reflect in our constitution our commitment to the protection of members’ data and demonstrate the importance of data privacy. Regulation 21 as currently drafted does not accurately represent the day-to-day position of how IFoA securely and lawfully processes our members’ data. The amendments will provide greater clarity to the IFoA’s data handling processes, and will have no impact on members’ relationship or interaction with the IFoA.

Full details of this proposed amendment to Regulation 21, and the process to be followed ahead of formally adopting the amendment, can be seen on our Regulations page.

In accordance with Rule 19A of the IFoA’s constitution, a 28-day notice period for comments on and objections to the proposed amendments has started today. This notice period will conclude on 7 March 2023.

If you have any questions about or objections to these amendments, or require any further information, please contact IFoA Corporate Secretary James Harrigan at james.harrigan@actuaries.org.uk.
