The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), the IFoA's online learning platform, relaunches to provide ‘powerful’ learning for the actuarial profession
The IFoA’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) has been relaunched, having been rebuilt on the basis of your feedback to allow you to search, rank, and return to video learning, and to keep pace with the demands of the profession.
The VLE has long been the IFoA’s repository for video of events and the primary means by which members complete their Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and it now hosts a bank of more than 1,000 items of original learning for the actuarial profession.
The rebuild offers an improved user experience, with re-categorised content, user ratings, and dashboards for tracking your progress and reviewing your achievements. This makes it easier to find and complete the learning you need to support your career.
Increasingly, the VLE will be powering sophisticated e-learning, such as the Climate & Sustainability Course, and live learning opportunities.
IFoA’s Chief Operating Officer, Anne Moore, said:
“The IFoA’s CPD scheme was redesigned a little over two years ago to help members to learn in a way that addresses the specific needs of their own careers. The VLE needed to change to support that goal better.
“We have hundreds of members logging onto the VLE every day – from first-year Students to the most experienced Fellow. It’s absolutely at the core of what we offer as a professional body. We are acting on what you are telling us by improving this platform to provide you with better access to learning that gives you a professional advantage.”
‘Delivering actuarial education and lifelong learning to keep pace with business needs’ was rated as the top-ranked role for IFoA by respondents to the 2021 member survey.
Simply log on to your actuaries.org.uk account and click on 'My learning environment' to explore the VLE’s improved architecture and functionality, and find learning that will help you to make an impact.
IFoA members can also join our live chat session, available on Monday 26 September from 12pm Midday (UK time), where you will have the opportunity to ask VLE troubleshooting questions to VLE Admin. Join the chat session using this link.
