The IFoA is saddened to learn of the death of Baroness Sally Greengross OBE HonFIA last week.
As an Honorary Fellow (2000), Baroness Greengross was a longstanding friend, supporter and advocate of the actuarial profession. She was an energetic and committed campaigner on many of the big societal questions IFoA members grapple with every day, including ageing populations, demographic change and longevity trends. In particular, many will have had the privilege of working alongside Baroness Greengross on many important initiatives during her tenure at the helm of the International Longevity Centre.
Commenting on Baroness Greengross’ passing, IFoA CEO Stephen Mann said:
“On behalf of the actuarial profession and everyone at the IFoA, I’d like to extend my deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Baroness Sally Greengross following her passing last week. Sally leaves behind an enormous legacy as one of the most influential figures in redefining how societies around the world should adapt to demographic change. She will be sorely missed.”
