Voting members of the IFoA have voted 68.2% in favour of proposals to adopt Chartered Actuary designations.
A total of 6,438 votes were cast – a record for the IFoA. This represents 38% of the voting membership.
The IFoA will now submit the proposal along with the results of the affirmative member vote to Privy Council for their formal approval.
The designations can only be put into use once this approval has been secured. Associate and Fellow members will be informed by direct email and should not describe themselves as Chartered Actuaries until they have received this notification.
IFoA President, Matt Saker, said:
“I am very pleased that the membership has voted for the proposal put forward by Council. The adoption of chartered status for our qualified members will protect the integrity of our standards, elevate the status of our members, and position the profession for a successful future, facilitating the movement of our members into new sectors and domains.
“I am very grateful to all members who joined the debate and those who cast a vote.”
