Risk management – Environmental, Social, and Governance Framework Task and Finish Group – Chair, Deputy Chair, and members

Application closing date: 22 September

This task and finish group (TFG) has been established in an area of developing risk management to consider an approach to assessing economic, social, and governance factors across the breadth of an organisation (outside of focusing on investment applications). In particular, to focus on assessing social and governance factors, and non-climate aspects of environment factors.

This may include:

  • developing a framework for identifying and assessing ESG risks
  • developing a practical approach to performing dual materiality assessments
  • identifying use cases for stress testing / reverse stress testing approaches to consider ESG risks

Deliverables for the TFG are likely to include:

  • producing reference documentation for practitioners, boards, and NEDs
  • enhance understanding of the consideration of ESG issues within the risk management community and its applications to actuarial risk management

We are seeking expressions of interest from a small number of IFoA members or lay-applicants who wish to volunteer for this TFG. Non-actuaries who are keen to share their practical insight are particularly welcome. Members of the TFG will ideally have (some or all the following):

  • a good understanding of environmental, social, and governance issues as they apply to insurers and actuaries
  • an interest in or awareness of current industry practice in this area
  • an interest in providing support for risk management specialist and actuaries working in these areas
