Practising Certificates Committee – Life Panel – member

Application closing date: 31 October

Would you like to be part of the IFoA Practising Certificates Committee (PCC)?

The current Chair of the PCC, Karen Butroid, is seeking to appoint a Fellow to become a volunteer member of the Life Panel of the PCC to consider applications for Chief Actuary (Life), Chief Actuary (Life, Non-Directive) and With-Profits Actuary Certificates.

What we are seeking

Karen is very keen to hear from any qualified members of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) who would like to discuss this role and find out more about what is involved. Expressions of interest are encouraged from Fellows with:

  • a current or recent PC in the relevant area
  • up-to-date knowledge of actuarial work specific to Life insurance
  • knowledge of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ (IFoA’s) regulatory functions
  • an understanding of the PC Scheme and an understanding of the competencies required for the relevant PCs, as set out in the PC Handbook

More information, recent minutes and list of Committee members can be found on our webpage.

Time commitment

As contributions are mainly carried out online, the time commitment is approximately, on average, a total of five hours per month, though maybe more in the latter half of the year. There are also up to two full PCC review meetings each year, participation in these meetings will be by videoconference, to ensure location is not a barrier. There is no requirement for all members of the committee to meet in one place.

Tenure

Three years reviewed annually. To provide continuity, it is hoped that members of this committee will be happy to take up a tenure of three years. However, tenure is reviewable annually, depending on changing circumstances, participation and performance in PCC matters
