Application closing date: 31 October
The IFoA’s Mental Health Working Party is heading into its next phase of work and is seeking additional members to lead this work.
Our work so far has considered the impact that mental health considerations have on each stage of the life insurance product lifecycle. We have produced a range of blogs, podcasts, webinars and papers in this area to raise awareness and inspire action. We have also looked in detail at digital tools that are used in insurance to support the mental health of customers and we have a workstream underway looking at supporting the mental health of actuaries. Most recently, we have also conducted an underwriting survey for mental health underwriting among UK insurers.
For our next phase of work we plan to focus across 4 areas:
If you are passionate about contributing to one or more of these focus areas, we invite you to apply for the working party. Please detail which workstream(s) you are interested in as part of your application. In particular, we are seeking additional volunteers for the engaging with mental health charities and travel insurance workstreams.
Our working party actively welcomes volunteers from a broad range of backgrounds. Our current members include expertise spanning actuarial, pricing, underwriting, advisor, product development and policy. We are seeking actuaries and non-actuaries to join the working party. Expected time commitment is about 4 to 6 hours per month.
If you are interested in this role but would like an informal conversation before applying, please email us at engagement.team@actuaries.org.uk.
If you have read all the above and would like to apply, please send us:
Please email all the above to engagement.team@actuaries.org.uk. Please note, we are unable to accept late applications.
We are committed to promoting diversity, equality of opportunity, and inclusion, within all our vacancies and we actively encourage applications from a diverse range of potential candidates. Recognising and embracing the unique and diverse talents of our volunteers is fundamental to the success of our organisation.
Volunteering provides you with a wide range of opportunities. With all rights and opportunities come responsibilities and we ask all our volunteers to comply with the terms of the IFoA’s governance manual and volunteer information pack. Before offering to provide support, please read through: what you need to know.
