Financial reporting

The Financial Reporting Group (FRG) supports the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) in the formulation and delivery of the IFoA’s opinion on accounting and financial reporting matters. It does so through consultation responses or wider engagement with stakeholders. The group also provides thought leadership in accounting and financial reporting issues affecting the relevant IFoA practice areas, for the UK and internationally.

The key responsibility of the FRG is to provide a steer on financial reporting issues under IFRS and UK GAAP across relevant actuarial practice areas (insurance and pensions) that may affect members of the IFoA.

Consultation response: International Accounting Standards Board

In May 2023, the IFoA had the opportunity to comment on the tentative agenda decision made by the IASB’s IFRS Interpretation Committee on the premiums receivable from an intermediary (IFRS 17 and IFRS 9). This response was supported and developed with the Financial Reporting Group.
